REALLY picky chickens

Mine could live on mealworms, ramen noodles and stale Cheerios.

Yes, chickens eat meat. Just to be safe, cook meat thoroughly before giving to your chickens. I normally give my chickens little bits of meat left on bones. They will peck till bone is dry. Mine won't touch a strawberry at all.
Raw meat is fine as long as it is fresh and well kept. My chickens eat mice whole - they are definitely raw. I would give them any raw meat that I would give my dogs. I'd avoid raw ground meat because that stuff tends to be on the super nasty side.

WOW, maybe it is because I have so many(36), but EVERYTHING you put in there gets gobbled up-even right after they have eaten!

When they were first put in the new coop, it was covered in grass, poke salad(its a southern thing), and many other greens...our coop used to be a 3-car car port on a tractor barn, we did it half at a time. It was EMPTY and back to a dirt floor in about an hour...it was impressive. When we expanded it to the other half of the car port(it was the plan but can only do so much each weekend), again, dirt floor in an hour.

I am so shocked that your chickies are so picky...mine wait for the scraps. They know when I come from the back(the commercial kitchen or garden), that I am bringing scraps/weeds/half eaten stuff from the garden, etc. when I come from the house, I am just bringing corn and/or pellets. When I come from the back, they go CRAZY, they jump on each other, are flying all around trying to be first in line...just an absolute chicken frenzy. When I get there they have a full feeder, corn still on the ground, etc. They just live for scraps. They get them almost every day, and everyday a frenzy...keep in mind that at least 2days/wk they get a 5gallon bucket full, so they shouldn't be worried they will miss....did I mention said 5-gallon bucket is GONE in 15 minutes???? Like I said, impressive!

My RIR's eat everything!!!!! They are worst than dogs. If they even see me looking out the front door they all come running to the edge of the fence.Nothing here goes to waste. I dont care what is leftover from dinner they will eat it. young and old. All my pepper and bean plants at the end of the year gets feed to them. GOD forbid they get out during strawberry season.

Mine must be part hog they even eat lizards and will chase each other around the yard trying to take it from the hunter. They will eat anything that they are given as long as I chop it up. I put out whole leaves of lettuce, spinach, whole apples or cut into junks they will not touch it. Pumpkin is good as long as it is diced up won't touch them whole and will not eat the seeds. They love oat meal, grits, rice in the morning have never offered them meat. They love grubs one will only eat only the tiny ones and one hen turns her beak up at grits. Strawberries if chopped not whole. They want their food served a certain way other wise they literally stand there and look at me and one hen even pokes at me if it is not right or on time. Gotta love em. LOVE tomatoes will take one and run with it.
