Received my box of dead chicks today :(

I am so sorry, that is just terriable. I know it was so hard to have them come dead. Hugs to you, I hope that your next batch is much more successful.

So sorry. I ended up canceling my order from McMurray because I was afraid of the cold and eeekend shipping. My chicks came from Ideal this morning and are all thriving with one exception. I only live a couple hours from ideal. My chicks were in transit for far less than 24 hours. My EEs seem strong and healthy if you are interested in colored eggs.

Im so sorry what happened with your chicks!!! You know, my chicks were sent with a heat pack for warmth and a little straw,. This helped keep them warm! Especially the heating pack!! I just feel awful for what happened to you!! Mine were also in the mail for two days... They also put a small amount of fresh fruit in the box for them.. I think to help with hydration . Next time you order please check with the hatchery or breeder to see if these things are posiable?? I ordered mine from a breeder. Maybe this is why they do these things im not sure. Again Im so sorry this happened!! It is sooo sad!!! Ask next time to send with a heat pack. Its a small square pack and it produces enough heat to last for three days.Perhaps it would help?? See what they offer. I wish you the very best and my heart goes out to you !! Again im so sorry!!!

Meyer..I have heard good and bad reviews with them. I don't use my chicks for showing or breeding so I wanted a variety. They had the Leann's Adopt Me Bargain for $1.43 per chick. Thought I mite get a neat variety...which I did...but unfortunately dead chicks dont do me any good :(

So sorry for your loss I cant imagine finding that many dead when you open the box :( I ordered the same ones as you and got them today as well . I had 6 dead when they got here and have now lost 6 more

Sorry to hear about your chicks. I live in Ohio and I have ordered twice from Meyer's this year. Once in January and just recently this week. Received them on the 5th of February. Polish does not do well with the cold. However Meyer has a garantee will refund or credit you. I always try and find a hatchary close to where I live while ordering in the winter. If that's not an option it sometimes pays to wait till spring. The weather is warming now and will continue. It is really hard on chicks in this weather not to mention being put in a box right after you have just pecked your way out of an egg. Hang in there and talk to Meyers.

I might be wrong but you would think a hatchery would know how to ship chicks in colder weather. I would also call them if you got them from a hatchery. I understand it was a risk but the packaging might could have been done differn't ie: heat pack etc. Also them being doa they might reship or help you someway.

I agree w the shipping statement because I ordered only 5 in nov from mypetchicken.com and they put some sort of heating material under the straw that stayed warm for another day or so. So sorry you had to open a box like that. :-(
