Recessive wheaten question

Tim,
The differences in the two Cubalaya hens:

Wheaten (you know what she looks like): Cinnamon
Silver Wheaten: sprinkling of white in the head and hackle; lighter colored breast

I'll post a picture of one of the Golden/Silver Duckwings later.

Tim,
Below are some pictures of Cubalaya Duckwings

Tim,
We understand the terminology differences. All Standard Black Breasted Red Orientals are in reality Wheaten not BBR though that is what they are called. Further, the Cubalaya (BBR) Wheaten is really Cinnamon.

lol. It's a great game we play.

For your further enjoyment here are some pictures of different Cubalaya patterns all based on Wheaten (Cinnamon).

Silver Wheaten Hen
chick down should be white to very pale yellow: not stripping

Blue Pullet

Comparison of Wheaten, Smut Wheaten (Wheaten with some black), and Black
chick down on Wheaten and Smut Wheaten should be white
chick down on Black should be black with NO RED

Brown Red Pullet
chick down is black with some red tint

White stag
chick down is NORMALLY white; however, I changed mine by breeding them to Blues which makes chick down smut colored because that gives the cleanness (sp) White when mature

I thought I was the Only one with that question...

What we call " duckwing" who raise orientals is a male phenotype that looks similar to the Gold/silver duckwing based on wildtype/ e/ BB Red-However, our oriental "duckwing "has females that are totally distinct from a wildtype silver duckwing female, since they are based on wheaten. It may be helpful to refer to them as Silver Wheatens, Gold Wheatens, etc, as I sometimes do. I think we are all sometimes confused because some people will call wildtype in general " duckwing", -"duckwing is the silver or gold version of wheaten or wildtype, in other words, a black breasted red with silver or gold instead of red.

Now, another issue-The picture posted by Ilia-both Tim and Nicalandia feel there is Columbian restricted, or Columbian like restricted, in this bird. Could someone explain this further? I am not doubting you, at all. I just have seen , and puzzled over cubalaya hens that looked similar to the posted hen. Not the same, exactly, but, close enough to get me wondering...

Thanks for the info Gallo Rojo...

here have a nice reading on Columbian Like restrictors(Co,Db,Mh, Di) and their effect on chickens..

Ok, I read through all that.

I had thought that Co made birds look like Columbian Wyandottes or Rocks, I guess it needs a combination of other things to make that whole named "pattern" It seems you and Tim may be right on your guess re: Illia's bird .

If you made that pictured bird silver, would that give you the basis for a light/columbian type bird?
