Recomendations on how to keep chicks from kicking feed all over the brooder?

Stand the feeder in something like a wide dish or baking tray to catch the food they beak out. Have that standing on a raised wire rack like you'd use to cool cakes on, or something similar, to help keep bedding and poo out of the tray or dish or whatever.

I use a small baking tray to hold my chick feeder and waterer. They still kick some crumbles into the water and poop on the food in the tray. It’s still less messy than no tray.

I always hang my waterer (a repurposed hummingbird feeder without the flower cap) and have no problem with foreign objects dirtying the water. Also put food and water far apart.

Get one of these feeders. What I have experienced with the basic feeders that kind of look like your chick feeder is that the feed is at the same level as the opening (if you know what I mean, it's hard to explain), the chicks can super easily bill (and scratch) a ton of the food out. The whole bottle gets wasted within a day. Ever since I got this exact feeder it got a lot better. Try hanging it very low, but still off the ground using a stick/string. They have to JUST BARELY be able to reach it and eat from it comfortably. If it's below the chicks' neck level then raise it. I've had no more problems with chicks getting feed everywhere ever since I got this feeder and kept a close eye every couple days as they grow to raise the feeder.

I was looking for a diy waterer for chicks and came across this video.. I just did it with an empty distilled water bottle and will also do it with a food one tomorrow.. this might help you as well .. hole big enough for heads but not body.. them little cha cha kickers ain’t spreading this one around lol.

I also love that the narrator is 100% from the northeast clocked his accent immediately thats kinda what my adult feeder looks like! Pasted what I bought below. Not a bad idea to try and emulate it with the chick feeder too! Thanks for sharing his page!
