If we were to get one female Embden and one straight run buff, what if the buff turned out to be a gander? Would we have to worry about cross breeding? Or would they stay away from that?

A buff gander would definitely go for an embden female, but unless you don’t want cross breeds it’s not anything to worry about. You’d just have embden buff crosses (which would look adorable!).
