Red barred rooster

I keep a mixed flock of several breeds of chickens. This red barred rooster was the result of a broody hen earlier this year. I have chosen him as my favorite rooster. I have 10 Rhode island red pullets that will be laying this spring. My question is, if I breed the rir pullets to this rooster will their offspring be the red barred like him or solid red like the hens?

He has at least 1 barring gene, so half of his offspring should be barred.

How lovely! That is the prettiest marking I've seen on a rooster!

He was the only chick that hatched from his clutch. And growing up he was kinda ruff looking. But by 2 months old I could tell he was going to be a stunner

Tbh not entirely sure. For example used these two recently and had a yellow chick start feathering black with white and golden bars lol.

halefamily-farm is right on that half the offspring would be barred. He looks as though he's only carrying one barring gene.

Mating the barred F1's together or backcrossing the barred pullets to the sire would yield half the cockerels double barred and half the pullets barred again. From there, double barred cockerel, and barred pullet/hens it's perpetual- Will always beget double barred cockerels and single barred pullets as females can only carry one.
