I know the tan eggs were from SSs and BLRWs, and fetilized by a slate shanked, white skinned, blue splash Ameraucana with red bleed. Most of the 60 + chicks are solid blue, blue with red or gold showing, or red and blue patterned. I expected these colors from them.
The blue and green eggs were fertilized [if fertile LOL] by either a CX or one of the Dark Cornish.............................. but he says the guy incubating them for him reported that not even one blue or green egg hatched. There are 5 or 6, white, or white with red chicks with pea combs and yellow or green shanks..............................
I want to swap him out of the white chicks 'if' by process of elimination, I can determine he's wrong and they hatched from a green egg. He was sold only tan eggs from the pen with the splash roo; blue and green eggs from the pen with the DCs and CX. They were all incubated together.
I'm still learning color genetics; but with the green and yellow legs, pea combs, white or white with red feathers, I'm thinking they had to come from an EE egg inspite of the fact he says none hatched................................... and that neither Dark Cornish was the sire even though their heads and growth rate look more like straight Cornish crosses than my previous CX crosses......................... which were 3 times larger than their half siblings by 4 weeks of age. I've never succeeded in hatching one, but the EE that lays the largest egg, and is under those three roos, has laid eggs [and somtimes still does] with the tell-tale bullseye. While I doubt the DC sired these white with red chicks from a "partridge type" EE, I would want to swap him out of them, whether they came from the DC or CX, if I knew the chicks came from that pen. LOL
Steve......... Ok................ LOL my head is spining now from all the different combo's, WTS the fact that 3 different people were invovled in the hatching could really be the culprit, as I suspect the same from your answers you may also fear that's the cause. The sole reason I hatch all my own projects and pure breeds, I keep all birds strickly paired together without any question as to their strains. Really sorry I haven't been much help Iam afraid Steve, genetics makes me dizzy too so I just try to keep it simple until I know enough to venture out of my knowledge comfort zone LOL. I thought you had an incubator if I am not mistaken ??.
