let's see if I can uplaod an image in this new format . . . If it works this is one of this years main breeding roos. He's 10 lbs at 20 weeks and already on the hens. He appears to be adept at the job, nice wide stance and good balance. The one with the blue lacing on his chest is his daddy who we will continue to use this year, so as you can see we are getting over the sustainable/longevity issue )))

What is the large, cancerous looking thing in the place of the breast on the cock in the bottom photo? Can't say I've ever seen anything quite like it before. What is the genetic background of these two birds as well?

Mostly.... But I would like to see a different angle of that bird- and what are they're genetic backgrounds-- if it's already been posted on here: I have to appoligize- for I don't remember it.

I know what the obvious point is: but that's an interesting looking bird- from this angle.

and if that bird is strong in Cornish blood- I dont' see it: he looks nothing like mine.

lol well I can assure you it's all breast and not cancerous. he does have Cornish in him along with quite a bit else feel free to do some back reading on this thread for all I put into this. I can't figure out how to post pics from my album anymore but I made it public for you so if you can find it feel free to browse through. you will see him as a chick this time last year he's the one with the blue in the down. I didn't use the chocolate one next to him for breeding as he grew to fast to be sustainable. If you keep browsing back you will see the "double" breast runs through all of my birds hens included (well at least the meat birds- you will easily tell the difference). These new boys have the longer shanks we were shooting for for better breeding ability.

It appears to me that Katy's birds have the big breasted, and some of the wide stance, look of Cornish; but with the softer feathering, slightly smaller and longer shanks, and single combs of out crosses. You can see the same in CX; the single combs are recessive and will show up in future generations of out crosses when you use single combed breeds as a cross. There is some commercial value to the combs when processed, so CX parent lines are all single combed.
