Red Silkies

Are Red Silkies uncommon? I ordered assorted eggs and some are red silkies.

He was more expensive than the other roosters. Maybe that's why? I was just drawn to him by the vibrant colouring. Too bad I don't have a red hen

Yes, the red is nice. I've always liked red. I wish I'd been able to get some hens for my rooster.
 
Buff is a very rich golden colour, especially on the boys. It is a vibrant colour; many of the buff silkies I see (certainly not all) are quite dilute, which is not correct. Red should be at least as dark as a New Hampshire. In both cases the colouring should be even over the entire body.
