Regarding PETA Related Topics

although i learned from that video to avoid hatcheries in the future i agree with it being too touchy of a subject to discuss here and the banning of the guy and the removal of the thread was just and a good decision.

plus that guys attitude was horrible. i hope you banned his IP and not just his screen name.

I am so sorry!! I said something that was considered inappropriate in the first thread on it today

I was just trying to lighten the mood and be funny, I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I can see where my sick sense of humor might have been offensive to someone who felt strongly about the treatment of the male chicks.

I won't do it again

I started a thread today on what I think must have been the same subject. I didn't realize there was a ban on threads re PETA, although I don't think the group involved was PETA.

I asked about it because I honestly don't know how the problem is dealt with and people I know ask me on my little chicken blog about things like this so I was looking for guidance. I apologize if I stirred things up.

I can understand that BYC may not be the place to debate such things. But I'd rather see reasoned opinions here, where there is representation from both backyard flockkeepers and larger operations.

Every day that I clean out my little coop I wonder how anyone manages to make a profit from the poultry business, and I know there are daily decisions to be made that are different from those with a few backyard chickens. I wasn't looking for an argument; just for illumination.

That recent thread and now banned individual are a perfect example of why there are some topics that just cut too deep where even those that are otherwise civil and friendly are pulled into heated and often mud slinging arguments. Kinda like putting a fox into the henhouse for the night and saying, "Make sure y'all get along!"

Thanks to all those that understand why we do what we do. Please continue to show your good examples of how to discuss all topics without negative trolling and flaming.

Sorry I didn't know it was wrong to post about this. I thought of it as something the chicken comunity should know about, so that this type of animal cruelty could be stoped. My bad...

Touchy subject(s). BYC you have a great policy on it.
I personally try to avoid even reading them.
I have my own opinions and will just keep it that way. (to myself)
This is a great FAMILY forum. I see a lot of very knowledgeably young Ones on here. I find that encouraging. (even they have a thing or two to teach me.) It's a growing lesson a lot of people are unable to grasp. To Live and let Live.

Thank You BYC!
