Day 5! Lumpy officially has zero development. The other 11 eggs all appear to have development, including Crackles, Rocket, and Sticky! A few are harder to see through today than they were a few days ago...I may need to charge my flashlight, lol.

I could have sworn there was another egg with calcium build up and I was going to switch to monitoring "Lumpy 2.0" because the rest of the eggs are developing but looking back at pictures it seems that Crackles is also the other egg with lumps...and then there were 3.

So happy Crackles is pushing through!! Sorry about Lumpy. Was he even fertilized? Did you crack it open?
So far my 2 out of 23 that didn’t develop were due to not being fertilized

Awesome! I hadn't thought of setting 'undesirable eggs' before, but maybe now I will! Those are some great pictures! Have you cracked open Lumpy and seen what was inside?

Lumpy was a clear, I cracked it open and intended to take a picture but I broke the yolk while rolling it in my hand to see if there was even a blastodisc. Seems that there wasn't anything for the roosters little swimmers to even fertilize on this egg.

Thanks! So far, so good! I think the real test for Rocket will be rotating to hatch. If Sticky isn't affected by the funk on the shell she should be just fine. Crackles will be the true test because it is a significant crack and can open up the potential for bacteria but I'm always careful to sanitize my incubators so fingers crossed!
And yes Lumpy had nothing to show me, just a yolk and it broke in my hand while I was looking for the blastodisc.

Yes, I thinks so too. I think Sticky probably has the largest chance of succeeding. I really do hope Crackles hatches! Will you name the chick Crackles if it does?

I'm interested in how this turns out! I once patched a day-5 egg I dropped while candling with electrical tape (don't judge the horse girl, I always have some, lol!), and Tapey (as dubbed by a friend who peeked in on the incubator when I had power go out at my house so I took it to movie night) hatched just fine!
