Craziest thing I ever did...will NEVER do that again!

Lost 1/2 of them to Mereks. It was most depressing.
Survivors are: 2 wheaten, 1 blue wheaten, 1 blue copper and 1 black copper pullets and 1 wheaten cockerel.
You might note on the far right a golden cuckoo.
I got 2 - 14 week old pullets today (vaccinated for Mereks).
I've been letting them outside now on nice days and at first it was rather funny...they would all huddle together and move in a ball form. Lord knows they need grass and sunshine. Hope they're not permanently damaged from their 6 months of secluded winter existence.
So how did you other folks who raised some winter chicks do?

I didnt hatch any chicks, but I got chicks shipped in in feburary. Our spring isnt until just two weeks ago here, so they've been in the brooder, in a box, and then in the coop.

Gosh keeping everyone inside and warm is stressful!

Those gals look gorgeous! did you hatch them from your own eggs?

I hatched chicks in November twice and all are doing well. Except the two Roos that became Sunday dinner

Got 25, 8 breeds from Ideal and all are alive and kickin. Didnt' get the vaccinated per ideals reccomendation. They're in the back room with heat lights and hope to move them to the coop soon. Feeding them medicated chick feed still and lettuce, corn, stale rolls, and chick grit. They didn't like culiflower.
So far so good. Can't send pics wish I could. Maybe soon. Oh they were delivered Feb 25th.

I hatched out some here as well as ordered from ideal last october, they spent the winter in the house and are now in the garage getting ready for their outdoor adventure, so far they don't roam far from the garage door. I will never raise chicks in the house over winter again! good lord what a mess. This is just one of many chicks all grown up.... Ms fancy pants
