Do you remember what your first real job paid?

My first job was in a factory but they paid decent back then. I started at 4.85. I remember I could buy a gallon of gas for under a dollar. Pack of cigarettes were also under a dollar.

I think I made $3.35 an hour at my first job. Working in a cafeteria when I was 16. Back when kids worked fast food and weren't competing with adults.

Well ... that's what 'these kids today' are all up in arms about ... the $4.85 then bought a LOT more than the $9.75 today! Especially when you compare housing costs, cost of cars or car repairs, food, healthcare, and all manner of things.

Anyway, my first gig was $5/hr and gas was somewhere around $.85/gallon.
