Although, it dos lead me to wonder what your perception of me might be based solely on being from NJ ;) ...
It's called Noo Joisey, and if you were a girl, you'd have big hair and lots of makeup.

Wess Virginny, you've got a still out in the woods and make moonshine liquor. And you wear dungarees with no shirt underneath with your legs sticking out the bottom of the too-short legs :D

You see, the stereotypes/misapprehensions don't just extend to different times, but to different places. It's no big deal if you realise that one's perception is probably crazy, what gets me is when people try to convince you that an idea they've got off telly is how things really are. That drives me nuts.

But wait ... I'm from New Jersey, but dressed like I'm from WV! so confused! Lol

Speaking of cars...ever try telling an 18-yr old that cars didn't used to come with seat belts (you had to pay extra for them)? Or that ash trays were a standard feature and the seats didn't have head rests?

That conversation will get you some funny looks
I do miss bench seats! My high beams were activated by a footswitch on the floor, and slightly above the foot switch was a foot pump for the washer fluid :)

What was your first car Mace (anyone)?

Mine was a 1958 Mercury and seemed pretty old when I got it (the 70's). No power steering, no power brakes and drank a quart of oil every 2 days. There were some fine adventures cruising around in that old tank!

Whoa now. That's hitting awful close to home.
But here in Missouri we get cold winters so we wear ours long enough to cover our bare feet.
