Did ya marry up with yer cuzin?

Nope but we went out alot together when we were both between marriages, and would act like a couple if someone was hitting on him or me that we weren't interested in :lau

What part of the state are you in? We are in Southwestern VA.

northwestern, close to the Ohio border

What was your first car Mace (anyone)?

Mine was a 1958 Mercury and seemed pretty old when I got it (the 70's). No power steering, no power brakes and drank a quart of oil every 2 days. There were some fine adventures cruising around in that old tank!

72 Plymouth Valiant. Gawd-awful green. But that thing was a brute! I can't remember if it had seatbelts or not, but i think those started in the early 70's? My 65 Mustang didn't have any. I do remember my Valiant had the foot-pedal for the high beams.

I had a Toyota Corolla, before they got popular. Drove that car forever, sold it to a relative who drove it more and it got passed on to another relative! What great cars, Toyota!

I had a Toyota Corolla,
So did I. It had been traded in by the mormon church. It had a LOT of miles on it, but it was as clean as a whistle, and the ashtrays had never been used and nobody had ever smoked inside, which I liked. When more people used to smoke, cars either stunk or they didn't. I only sold that car because I went overseas. My nanna had a Corona which she bought new and drove "forever". They were good cars. Not sure about the quality these days, but they used to be good.
When I was a really little kid, we had a friend from the US come to visit. He had a vintage car while he was here. It was that old-fashioned looking type from the old movies. A bit like a Ford Prefect, but I don't know whether that was it. I seem to remember it had "suicide doors" and looking at the pictures of the Prefects, they don't seem to have that. You also had to/could crank it to get it going. I couldn't move the crank handle, I was so impressed when John did it.
Speaking of cars, I also found it entertaining sitting in the car when my brother washed it. I'd get really upset if he washed it without letting me inside to watch the water coming down the windscreen.
Big difference from today and the "olden days". You could be entertained by mundane things. You didn't have to have a device. I wonder what a kid would say if you said "no, I'm not getting you a Nintendo, would you like to sit in the car while I wash it?" :D

"Gawd awful green"...so was my old Merc! Too funny WV.

Oh, they had some shocking colours. They still do, some are repulsive. It's all a matter of opinion I suppose. We had an "indi orange" torana.

Why do people bother about age, and aging? I just saw on the telly that Mick Jagger is 74 today. If he lived up the street, he'd be treated like a doddery old fool, but he's still performing and seems the same as when he was younger, just wrinkly. Betty White is about a million, but she seems to have more energy than I do. You can find "miserable old codgers" of any age and "get-up-and-go" types of any age. It isn't really linked to the numbers. Yes, bits do "wear out" as you age, but otherwise, if they're still working, who says you can't carry on, just like Mick. (and Paul McCartney, for that matter, he's touring here at the end of the year)

Why do people have lots of plastic surgery? Priscilla Presley was just on the telly, and her face looks like a waxwork. People know roughly how old you are if you are in the public eye, you just have to do some sums. Nobody will think you are 20, why rearrange your face to try to look as if you are? (and fail dismally, you just look weird, IMO) I don't get it. Shrug.

In show business, if women don't look young they don't get work. Men don't seem to have the same problem. If i could afford plastic surgery i would do it because looking younger makes you feel better. That's why.

I'm too old to worry about plastic surgery now. My hubby loves me, so I'm good with that.

Did see an interesting story the other day about a group of women that have had breast cancer and had breasts removed and are embracing the flat look. No more implants, surgeries, etc. Just happy with being cancer-free. I thought it was wonderful!

I just want to get certain parts trimmed back so they match what i already had done. I hate being fat, love to eat. But may lose weight with being outside all day now.
