I used to have a coyote living in my back yard when I lived in San Diego. 
(I had no chickens at that time)
I got a few pictures of it - I'm gonna go dig for those.
RIGHT outside our front door - the coyote used to come out early in the morning and lick the dew off the weeds and grass, and eat berries fallen from our Mulberry tree.
