Remote Temperature Monitoring.

I did receive the Thermometer/Hygrometer unit I linked too back in post # 7 . It was easy to set up , easy to mount the sending unit/transmitter in coop and its working very well . Checked temp and humidity readings against local weather on TV and phone app , they are pretty much spot on . Hopefully it will hold up over time .

I looked around and anything that gave me a lot of historical data would be prohibitively expensive........monthly or yearly fees and so on.

So we went to Lowe's and bought a Acu-rite weather station.
I has one sensor that will be in the coop...have to put lithium batteries for the cold.
The monitor goes on the desk in my office, it gives temp and humidity, I haven't read the complete instructions yet.
The unit was $35 then a few bucks more for lithium batteries.
I says it has a 330 foot wifi range, the coop is about 100 feet from the house.
I am going to install it tomorrow and will give a follow up.

I think it should work out.
As a Maintenance Technician I like to see data , lots of data....or it might be my OCD kicking in !!

yea, a remote temperature monitor to the phone would be needed as chickens don't get cold until below zero. Me and my phone would be so far away from that - ° coop.
I would be remote to everything but Geiger Key Marina bar and grill. Birds go south for the winter.

I have an acurite. The coop is about 100' from the base. It works great. The batteries in the remote lasted about 2 years. Picture from this morning.

Have a sensor in barn was considered for a while but over time it became apparent that the local weather station was close enough to give good estimates on what the chickens were experiencing. I keep ventilation rates high so humidity nor heat builds up.

I installed it today and it is working great.
Right now the temp is 43 and the humidity 77.
I am a little wary of the humidity .

On my other weather station that is on the other side of our property is saying 38 with 64% RH.

We put 2 vents in the wall of the coop that seem to be moving air, at least they have dust and other junk on the inside of the screens.

the sensor is inside the coop.....I have another weather station on the other side of our property that gives me the actual "outside" weather.

Right now the temp inside the coop is 44 and the RH 84%.
The actual outside temp is 38 and RH 68%

Understood...was saying it would be good to have a weather station sensor right outside the coop to compare with inside the coop. Unless your property is very small and of same cover, elevation, etc.

we have about a half acre...the better weather station is on the south side of the property..the coop is on the north side slightly down hill.
