Reproductive issues

Could she be getting ready to molt, or just having a break in laying? Will she take a little scrambled egg, tuna, or cottage cheese? The cottage cheese or some plain greek yogurt can give probiotics. Can you feel in her vent with a clean finger for a stuck egg? I don’t know if giving calcium if she is not egg bound is a good idea. Calcium can be constipating, but if she is still making eggs, it is probably okay to keep giving. I really am not sure about that. Hopefully, she will eat and continue to be active.
Not really eating. She won’t eat eggs ever. I know so strange. No on the molt. She is barely a year old. Not egg bound. 😢

I don't think calcium for a few days is going to cause any issues if this isn't reproductive. I would prefer a higher dosage than 400mg, but stick with that for now.

If the hen is lethargic, fading, no appetite, then at some point soon, she should be tube fed to restore her glucose levels and provide the energy to recover.

My thinking is that treating for egg binding can't hurt, has the potential to rule out this issue so we can focus on other possibilities such as genetic issues at hatch may be manifesting, and this may be related to that.

Having a chicken go through reproductive issues in the past… it sure mimicks that. After I give her calcium she seems better. But nothing is moving inside. Crop is full of water. I have her in a quiet comfortable area. Access to everything her heart desires. Trying not to bother her with my wanting to hold her and love on her. Praying for a good outcome.

You can give her another 400mg of calcium this afternoon. Keeping her well hydrated takes priority over food at this point. But keep it in mind that she will need an infusion of food soon in order to maintain the energy to resolve this issue.

Do you have access to plastic tubing such as used with oxygen or aquariums? An oral syringe is necessary that fits into the tube. I use raw egg mixed with a bit of yogurt and sometimes strained baby food when I tube.

I have a tube feeder. And I have fed Emeraid IC Omnivore supplement in the past to my other bird. But this bag of supplement is expired. So I can make the mix of egg, yogurt and anything else….

Should I do this afternoon? If so I will put the calcium in the mixture as well.
Just to make it easier on her. I have baby food too. Keep it in case, for my chickens. I am so appreciative of your time and dedication to helping out. Seriously…. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you all.

I plan to feed her soon. She has stopped the excessive drinking. She seems a tad brighter in her eyes. And she has assumed the laying position and seems to maybe be pulsing a little. I am so sad, but trying my best to stay positive for her. Her crop is still very full of water.... I was trying to see if it would go down a little prior to feeding her. Again I do appreciate all your help! Continually praying for this sweet girl.
