Mealworms are refrigerated to keep them in mealworm stage, so that they don't turn into larva and beetles.I got my leopard gecko yesterday. They said to refrigerate mealworms? I did and now they seem waaay less lively. Is that good or bad? The mealworms are his food btw.

Shes so pretty!Bathtime last spring full of non fertile eggs
It's much more cost efficient to make a mealworm farm than buying them.Ohhhh... okay. Smart.![]()
They will get lively again when they warm up. Pull however many you need out of the container and put them in a little dish for 10-15. They will perk right up.I got my leopard gecko yesterday. I think it partly depends on how many you need. I like to feed my leo a mix of bug types so I only need 20 or so meal worms a week (sometimes less). So I prefer to just buy 1 tub of 100 once a month or so. And I usually order them as part of a combo pack from Rainbow. It's much more cost efficient to make a mealworm farm than buying them.
