Reptile Photos! **DUW**

92caddy, can you post pics of your inherited snake? It sounds like your guy is living the good life right now!
Maybe someone can ID him for you

Also, I'm a glutton for reptile pics, I've been lurking on this thread like crazy!

I thought I'd join the party, so here's a nearly 3 year old pic of my boy Chester

Has anyone else noticed a decrease in vigor along with an increase in interesting color morphs? I only have two leos now, a wild-type female and the male, Chester, but I've had lots of others in the past. I noticed that leucistics and albinos are poor feeders. They often try to strike and just plain miss the target. I love looking at Chester, but he lacks the "boofiness" of the wild-type males I've kept in the past. He's nearing 3 years of age, and he's still kinda puny.

I've also noticed this trend in corn snakes. A friend of mine raised corns, and I noticed that his hatches always had some losses due to just general lack of will to live. And the apathetic snakes that up and died were always beautiful color morphs. Perhaps there is a linkage in some species?
Anyone else notice this trend in herps?

Its not really a trend or anything new. A lot of these morphs are weaker individuals. Its the same with dogs too, you have a gazillion different breeds, many with their fair share of inherent problems.

Had to jump in too and post a pic of my Stuart. He is a Russian Tortoise...and a vegetarian! I used to have a great big bull snake that I bred mice for...always fed them live; but that was a long time ago before it was "cool" to have reptiles. Now knowledge abounds (on some species that is...) Here is Stuart:

Hey Jordan, here's the last pair of miami motleys from '09 that Carol has available. Male on top, female on bottom:

I definitely love the male and the couple striped markings on his back and how he looks like a motley almost all the way down. The female however I'm not big on since her pattern kinda stops half way down, though she is a motley. I'd probably still get nice babies because of the male, and I would rather get them this year so that I'd have to wait one less year before I could start producing them myself, instead of waiting for babies when they start hatching in like July. What do you think of them? Their colors are definitely great on both.

Sorry for like spamming your thread, Jordan...

The more I think about it, the more I think I'll wait. Since I won't have room to keep any of the babies back, I want a pair that I love 100% otherwise I'll be sad seeing the babies go that are better than my breeders LOL
