No hate, Silky. At least you tried, lol.

Thank you all for the posts! All of your herps are very beautiful.

Madison, I love that male but like you said, the female is iffy.

And Lauren, I hope you get a crestie! They're fun little lizards!

If I missed anything else, I apologize. School is hard and Im tired.

LOL, they really are fun pets. My parents and siblings are terrified of them. You shoul have seen them when one of mine escaped, everyone was walking around on tip toes for weeks. She escaped in my brother's room and he slept on the couch for a month!

Im lucky enough to have an accepting family though.... but defrosting mice in the bathroom sink still grosses them out!

What amazes me even more than so many pages is the fact there are so many true reptile lovers on this site. I think its great.
I just wish more people could get over their fear of snakes but I totally understand the fear, mine is frogs, I shudder at the thought of a frog anywhere in my space. they truely creep me out.
even walking by them in a pet store will un hindgeme in the worse way, go ahead and laugh I do about the fear, but its a real fear like snakes are for other people.

Snakes lizards, geckos, spiders well any arachnid actually is like a day in heaven for me.

First time I've ever heard of someone afraid of frogs that wasn't afraid of snakes.

I use to have a African fat-tailed gecko that died a couple years ago. I spent years begging my parents to let me have some type of lizard and that was how I got him. Even tried to keep a very large snapping turtle that someone dumped off around our house. That didn't work out cause my mom used a shovel to put it in the car trunk to take it to the lake. I always loved reptiles/amphibians as a young kid. I think dinosaurs was the first thing that got me interested in them and then I spent a lot of time watching the Animal Planet. My mom was afraid of reptiles unless it was a turtle. She did however at one point had a salamander even though they look almost like a lizard. She didn't mind my gecko to much after seeing how tame it was. I would love to have an iguana. I wanted one for my first lizard but my sister's boyfriend had a large one so my mom realized how big they got. Also tried to even talk her into a savannah monitor when I was picking out my gecko. She seen a description below the tank and told me that there was no way she was going to get one of those. I'd like to own more reptiles but cause of trying to get crickets during the winter was a pain that I probably won't get anymore that eat insects. I love looking at snakes and don't mind watching them eat but I wouldn't want to mess with owning one and feeding it myself. If I had a bunch of quail for quail eggs I wouldn't mind having a egg-eating snake that doesn't have to be fed mice everytime. Maybe some day I'll get an iguana once I have the room for one. My favorite reptiles are the tyrannosaurus rex, saltwater crocodiles and the eastern diamondback rattlesnake.

AAAH! Snakes loose in the house?! We've had that happen in our house too, and we don't even keep them as pets! Occasionally we'll bring one inside in a drywall bucket just to admire for a while. Fifteen minutes later: "Umm, what happened to the snake?" We've found an escapee basking happily by a window. Snakes DO look nice, but I prefer not to be surprised by them!

That's such a cute Crested Gecko at the beginning of this thread! Would you be insulted if I was to mention that he looks a *little* more innocent than the snakes??

we forever have loose snakes in the house. poor dogs have fits about it lol.
good thing is none of the snakes I have right now are large enough to eat the 3 lb chi/jack lol.
but its hysterical watching the 130+ lb dog jump and run away from an 18 inch corn snake.

most lizards do appear to look more innocent than a snake, given the right type of lizard its a fact, the wrong type lizard though well I wouldnt trust around my barking rat dog.

To the other poster who mentioned the love of all things reptile due to the Dinosaurs, funny you should mention that my 12 year old got the same feeling, started off with everything Dino and progressed from there.
now I am curious how people who have reptiles formed their love of them.

Ok, got the hang of it now. Here's one of Beauregard & the chickens. They honestly didn't quite know what to make of him. Beauregard is my 7 and a half month old Chacoan tegu. His daddy is 5' 2" long & Beauregard is 3'3" long now.
