Again, here is the issue:
First person says region A supports region B financially.
Second person says region B supports region A financially.
This is not something that is subjective -- they can't both be true. How to find out? Crunch numbers.
OK, numbers crunched for each year. Region B contributes $28 billion in tax revenue. Region A contributes $7 billion in tax revenue. Region B receives $17 billion in state funding. Region A receives $12 billion in state funding. Data presented to both people. First person says "I don't care...I still believe region A supports region B financially, despite evidence to the contrary."
Tell me how that relates to changing a person's political beliefs from Democrat to Republican.
AquaEyes - I won't debate (regardlesss of what reports/numbers you throw out) because we are so absolutely different. There are so many numbers from this or that that always contradict one another. I cling to my views just as you cling to yours. I say to each his own. We could go on forever and ever and ever..............
I do find it so annoying when someone thinks that you are totally moronic for siding with this party or that. Not saying that you feel this way AquaEyes, but some do treat others this way. America is changing before our eyes. I, for one, like the fact that Tea Party members are holding elected positions. Sometimes we need to experience a little discomfort in life, so that we realize that maybe something needs to change -- elected officials, Democrat or Republicans, included. The long time politicians are facing that discomfort right now. Remember, the elected Tea Party members did not get where they are by magical happenstance. They were put into office by your family members, co-workers, neighbors, and friends. All this said, I do not proclaim to be a Tea Party supporter. I don't know what my title is, maybe Independent. My views/voting record air on the conservative side, but I like to hear from every candidate.
I agree. I don't criticize people, but ideas are open to debate. Criticizing a person's ideas is not criticizing the person, in my opinion. The ideas are like game-pieces on a chessboard, and the debate the game. The game pieces may be obliterated from the board, but the players are unaffected. At least that's how I feel about debates.
