Rescue Rooster with large cyst above eye

Some antibiotic eye drops can be used. Here we can get the ointments easily, but not the drops without a vet. Saline eye wash is sometimes good, but if there are bacteria, it may require the antibiotics.

Have you tried to do a warm compress and then squeeze it to see if you can push the gunk out?
So he has a membrane over the cyst .. squeezing didn’t work .. 😩 poor little guy .. it’s a really hard lump too .. I’ve seen other posts on removing via a nick with a scalpel ? What is the outcome for him if I leave it ? Or if I try the Dr Doolittle approach would I make the incision at the top ? 😣

I would try to remove any pus from the eye, and the video below shows how to do that. Then clean and flush the eye with saline, and apply some Terramycin eye ointment or plain Triple Antibiotic to the eye twice a day.

Did the vet tell you this was a cyst? If they did, and then prescribed an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory for it, that doesn't make any sense. And yes, a cyst can often be liberated with a "flick" of a scalpel. Just had one of those removed a few weeks ago on myself.

The eye has more of the look of sinus infection to me. I would ask the high priced vet for a prescription for prednisone eye drops. I've used this to successfully treat such eye swelling as your rooster has. You need a prescription for it. https://www.kvsupply.com/item/prednisolone-acetate-ophthalmic-suspension/497024/

I was thinking the same thing about the vet... didn't make sense.
