"Rescued" a Great Horned Owl - Update on page 4!!!

Awesome save! I too LOVE owls! When I was in high school they took us on a trip to the raptor center where all the birds of prey are rehabbed and released when possible. Ever since then I have a huge respect for them and their beauty. That trip turned out to be extremely valuable to me when I rescued a baby barn owl in the road. I knew exactly who to call and what to do. The raptor center came and picked him up, looked him over making sure nothing was broken from his fall and we went to thre location where he had fallen from, they towered up the tree where mom and dad were hanging out (they were swooping on my head when I picked baby up off the road) and put him back in the nest. Funny someone mentioned the parents don't go back to the babies once they are on the ground. These parents took him back with open wings. He had been MIA for approx 4 hours. I love to hear about the happy endings

I said Great Horned Owls won't go on the ground to get their babies.
But the parents came and took the baby back, once it was safely night time and the young one was up in a tree again.

Well, I think my owl friend's rehab is complete. About a week ago, I saw an owl winging along my road in front of me and last night my daughter saw one sitting in a tree in our yard. The vet said that if it was able to be released, they would release it in the area where it was found. I'm so happy to see him back and apparently in good health. Now, if only he'd run off the dang ravens...
