Hi everyone! So I have an issue. Yesterday we got a message about someone's eggs that they bought hatching. There were 7 already hatched but one was stuck in the egg. Theyre having some issues. I've hatched chickens before so when I got home I used some steam and warm water to help free the lil guy from his egg where he was stuck. A lot of the fluid and stuff dried on him. Hes in the incubator with the rest of the eggs that we deemed viable based on ccandling.the 6 other chicks who hatched are doing great despite not being in an incubator when they did. Though im pretty sure some are splay legged. What do I do with the lil guy who's got the dried sack on him. Again he's in tge incubator with a humidity of 77 but last I checked its still dried onto him. I also have one that was pipped and active when we put it into the incubator but isn't doing anything else with no progress. It's still peeping but not making active attempts to hatch. I know its a lot but someone please help I've never had anything like this before.

Update the little one who was hatching didn't make it, but another one is pipped so crossing my fingers

In my experience it usually comes off on its own as it dries. You may want to take a pair of tweezers and gently peel up the edges, see if it comes off.

If there's a lot you can cut through from the top, break it up into smaller pieces.

If he's trapped, work away at it a little at a time.

You'll probably need to wash the dried membrane and gunk off the chick that's hatched if it's really covered in it. Use water that's on the hotter side of warm but not enough to hurt the chick (it should be fairly quiet and calm if the temperature is right) and be careful not to let it aspirate any of the water. You might need to hold it and let it soak for a bit before gently rubbing at the really stuck bits with something like a flannel or a soft-bristled toothbrush. Make sure to do this in a warm, draught-free room and get the chick as dry as possible immediately after.

Before you do that, check if it is definitely just dried membrane and general hatching gunk or if there's any umbilical or unabsorbed yolk still attached.

Should I just leave him in the incubator then? Hes been in there for 12 hours and I was thinking of letting him have 24.
