"rescued' yet another one... (graphic pictures)

Today the girls and 'Bird went out to enjoy some free time! now that the snow is gone and it's at least 33 degrees, out they went to play! I really didnt expect to see Hope outside - she usually stays in where it's warmer. But, not Hope! today she was outside being her silly self.

Happy, happy Hope!

I use one of those turtle sand boxes as one of two kiddie wading pools for the waterfowl. With two geese and 23 ducks, they need more than just the 300 gallon stock tank for full body water games.

...my whole yard is dust bathing territory....

Hope is looking good with her new feathers. She looks so happy hanging out with her new friends.

She is getting a lot more laid back and relaxed. She's a happy girl.

Greyeyes, yup, my entire yard, flowerbeds, garden, rosebed, and even the driveway are all open game for them and their dustbaths when they get free range time too. Gotta love it. I could sit and watch them for HOURS... oh wait, I do.

I love the turtle sandbox for the winter because I can cover it up before the snow and rain hits and it's still dry the next day for them. They are WAY to spoiled..

She fits right in with the others ....... I love the picture in the sandbox. That white cochin in the first picture is beautiful!! What is her name? I find Hope's integration with the existing flock just amazing ....... I always thought introducing just one hen to an existing flock was extremely difficult. I brought home a beautiful pullet last summer to add to my existing flock of 4 yard ladies and they never accepted her .....it was awful ...... I had to have DH build a separate coop for her ...... then I was afraid she would be lonely so I got a few more pullets to keep her company ........ now I have two coops / two separate flocks. LOL. Maybe I'm just to soft or didn't give it enough time ...... but I was afraid she would get seriously hurt ..... those four girls meant business. I love reading your stories .... they make me smile.

thanks Meme. My girls and 'Bird are my world. When my DH and i built my coop and left a 3 X 8 section for storage of food, shavings, etc. I used a screen door to keep access to the girls and 'Birds living space. This really worked good when I ended up brining in new girls. They were 'fenced' off from the rest, but still able to interact through the chicken wire inside for at least a month. they had their own pen space as well for as long as it needed to be. With Hope, she was separated for about 2 months because she had no feathers and needed special heat. She got to the point she was going over there come he(* or high water!!!! I did spend A LOT of time checking on her and them to make sure they were ok. I did a lot of extra work trying to get them together too.

hmmm... If I could use that as an excuse to build a second coop I would JUMP at it!!!!! lol

My Cochins are Peaches and Princess. They are such dolls!!!
