Respiratory or Circulation Problems?

It sounds to me like he might have a heart problem, in which case there is nothing you can do. Some birds just have weaker hearts than others, leading to circulation problems and occasionally heart attacks.

Is he breathing normally (any discharge, heavy breathing, noise, etc.)? If he shows any difficulty breathing, then I would suspect a respiratory problem.

For now, I would make sure he has no mites/lice, keep him in a warm place isolated from the other birds if possible, and continue to offer vitamins/electrolytes and nutritious feed. Many people raise both roosters and hens on layer feed, but it does have too high of levels of calcium for proper health of non-laying birds. Chick starter/grower feed or gamebird feed, with oytershells offered for laying hens, are better choices if you are raising both genders together.

Good luck with him! He sounds like a nice rooster.

When I got home from work, my husband told me the kids had been out looking at him just ten minutes before. And that he was standing up and seemed okay. But when I went out, he had already passed. Looked like he had just collapsed. His comb and face were nearly black. :(

Oh and no discharge from his nose or anything. Nothing was off physically other than his head and comb and waddles.

I'm sorry for your loss. It was probably a heart problem.
