I shed a few tears for you! We lost a couple chickens recently. It is a very sad event, and yours was so tragic! You gave them a wonderful happy life while they were here on this planet. I am sure you will be blessed with more chicken love in the future!

I read your story as I have a chicken on my lap passing away I believe... i was already crying but it made me sob.

It was so touching and I'm so glad you had the forsight to post it for us all to read even in your time of greiving. . .


We're almost done with our coop. My FIL was about to go get the stuff to wire it up- we'll now be calling an Electrician and thinking of each and every one of your beautiful girls and sending them a thank you from our hearts. . . sometimes you dont think things can happen till they happen to someone you 'know' . I'm sorry your girls are gone- but we all can learn from this so I hope that brings you some comfort that you may be saving other chickens by sharing.

So sorry for you and your chickens. I too am crying.
Chickens seem to be such lovely little souls.
They are simple and happy souls.
They truely each have pesonalities and they bring
simplicity and happiness to our lives.
I think chickens remind us of something wholesome and good and soul satisfying when we watch them. They are truely a gift from God. Chickens make us laugh when other things in life are not funny.
People that have never been around chickens really miss out.
Your girls were very fortunate to have you.

I feel terrible for you. I'm so sorry.

Yet, instead of talking about your horrible tragedy, you post a wonder tribute to your girls. It makes me feel good yet so sad. They had a wonderful life while they were here and they were beautiful ladies. I'm glad you have a roo and rescue hen to start a new flock and that you're not giving up on the wonder joys of chickens.

If after you rebuild you'd like some eggs for hatching, please let me know. I'd be glad to send you a free dozen or so. They'd be brahma "mutts", but all chickens are capable of helping your heart to heal.
