Siding is it wood or vinyl? With such a nice coop it would be a shame to make it look just thrown together, To purchase that lumber around here would cost a few bucks a board.

It is wood. There is more than enough to do the back solid. So the back side will not match the the other three, but at least it will all be the same, only catch is half of it is painted so I'll have to revise my plans to leave the wood natural with just a weather coat, cause I don't have a power sander and I am NOT hand sanding that much siding . But something will come to me. i could just paint the back with a neutral earthy tone and leave the other sides. Any questions about it just explain that the east (back( side gets more weather exposure and needs the extra protection (which is actually true). Yes I need to get some pics uploaded, I have been horribly delequent in doing that last couple of week. Maybe I'll get the backside totally finished this thursday and make up for it with some super pics

How many boards do you need? id rather wait and do it right and so you can enjoy it for years to come, I have been to plenty of farms where the old timers would slap on anything to make repairs and it just ruined the whole image.. I am not trying to be hard on you and I also don't know your financial situation but if it were me Id wait you'll be happier in the long run. if you paint that beautiful building and piece it together you are going to ruin it's appeal.

Yay on repurposing. The only thing you can do is the best you can do. And putting it on the back side where most people wont see it is an excellent compromise. And I suspect that the new siding will require a coat of paint. Just because the materials these days are soo different than the ones a hundred years ago. And its not like the whole thing is out of older materials since the roof is made of Fiberglass. It will look great.
