I have a BCM rooster and plymouth barred rock hens? Will their offspring be sex linked - if so what will be the markings.

Also, are there any distinct marking for pure plymouth barred rock sexing?

Thanks!!

Yes, they will be sex-linked. The males will hatch out with a white dot on the heads, the females like a normal black or black copper colored chick. edited to add - Males will mature to be barred, females will be a normal black coloration with possible small amount or no coppering on the neck.

As for normal Rocks - Yes, again.

Males have a very large white spot on the head as a chick, then mature with lighter, farther spaced barring while females have a smaller white dot on the head and mature to have closely spaced, darker barring.

If your Rocks are from heritage lines (as according to the ALBC definition of heritage) though, your males may actually be just as dark as the females, as some lines are bred for such. The white dot rule still applies.
