I keep checking the clock and date on the computer and it isn't Thursday night yet. Not fair!

I've paid for my fire insurance.

My agent has e-mailed a local propane company manager (cc'ing me) and asked for a quote for tank installation and service for the property "ASAP" - also asking if there were any customer discounts for me as a referral of hers (due to her long-term status as a customer). How cool is THAT??!?! Also - get this! - the company offers a "Smart Service" monitoring system which provides for automatic tank level monitoring, and will CALL the company when it needs to be refilled! It runs on solar power, attached to an in-home monitor tied into the phone line to make the calls, and which displays its status for the customer to read as well. Plus it has a thermometer for the inside house temperature so there's something else useful to see on its display. The inside monitor does use a battery. Now that's a handy system. I'm sure I could survive with a basic "Go outside and read the tank level" type thing, but I still think the "Smart Service" system is nifty.

So I'm not just nattering into the ether here, could some folks offer me opinions about fencing? Should I go metal or wood? Wood would be pretty, but blocks sight. That might not be bad, though. I dunno. Then there's chain link, which is UGLY. It will last for a really long time, though, and be secure. How about those aluminum panels of upright posts? (With hardware cloth across the bottom 2 feet, of course.) A gate that swings out, or a gate that rolls in a track parallel to the fence?

I am so excited for you! How wonderful that you are going to be up in the mountains. There is something so peaceful about higher elevations. And the PORCH is fabulous!!!

If you do the rolling track gate, you can get an automatic opener/closer, so you don't have to get out in the rain/snow. Granted, it's not always perfect and you do have to get out sometimes, but none the less.....

When I moved to the 4 acres I'm on, I put in a black chainlink gate at end of driveway that swings out. I think the black looks better. I always figured I could add an auto opener myself for $500.00 if I get tired of opening and closing it.

If fires are a concern, I would put in metal.

An auto-gate opener would require underground conduit for electrical, so I think I can open my own gate (as I do where I am renting, now) but I DO like the idea of rolling/sliding gates.

Just a tad bit less excited today, because the seller hasn't gotten the deed package to the title company yet. Probably will not close until Monday. There is a slim chance it might close escrow Friday afternoon; if so, I can pick up keys on Saturday. So I've moved my special request "extra" day off to Tuesday. My agent has scheduled some appointments with the well pump and propane fellas for Monday afternoon.

Just tried to set up phone service and got disconnected during the conversation. Phone representative had asked for my call-back number " in case we get disconnected." How prophetic. However, it's been 45 minutes since then, and nobody has called me back.

No house mail delivery, or even delivery onto that road. Post office boxes are available, though. No trash pick-up on the street; residents roll their trash containers down to the corner of the road at Mt. Aukum Rd., otherwise known as "County Highway 16.". Good thing the "full" direction is downhill and the "empty" direction is uphill back to the house!

I really wanted to take my two little dogs up there this weekend, along with a spare double doggie bed, just to get them used to the place a little bit. Of course I wanted to take some of my stuff up there, too..... Still got my fingers crossed for Saturday.

Tuesday will be the 31st day after the first time I saw the house for sale and made an offer on it that afternoon. I shouldn't complain!
