Retired from Metrology Engineering last year (FINALLY
) I grew up in a (very) rural village in Germany - Some might compare it to the Amish here in the USA - but for me it was just how we were raised - very minimal, almost survivalist style. I travelled starting at age 17 around Europe. Ended up meeting my husband (of now over 35 years). We bought a small Farm in Indiana (where my husband is from) and raise Emu, Chickens, Geese, Goats and grandkids
We have a small YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@haireyhomestead3820/videos) where we post some things about our farm (nothing spectacular, just for fun).
We have incubators and hatch about 200-300 chickens during spring/summer, including emus.
I downsize every year and then start hatching my new flocks in early spring. We also like to grow many things and try out new foraged items. I love to paint and have had a couple of paintings selected for the front cover of a magazine (interesting, what some people find artsy
). I love making soaps, tinctures, syrups, salves and dabble in other items of nature's medicine cabinet.
