Review of the 56 egg no brand incubator

I am just the opposite. I use this one for incubating and my Farm Innovators for hatching. I dry incubate, so the humidity doesn't concern me. I don't like the design of the grate. In fact, another member said they had a chick get stuck between the grate and sides and die, so make sure you fill in that gap when using it as a hatcher.

Also, with the heater being on the bottom, how do you keep chick poo and gunk out of it? Even though I use shelf liner, the bottom half of the incubator does get a bit dirty during hatches.

with "dry" incubation I seemed to have too many DIS, so this time I am trying for 40% humidity give or take. I would Imagine that living at 6000 feet above sea level would make some difference as well as the fact that here in Colorado we have a dry climate, not as dry as Arizona but still nothing like some places.

Very true. I find it also depends on what you are trying to hatch, breed wise.

I did not realize Colorado is so dry, but being from New Mexico I should have realized that lol.

So far they have just been Barnyard Mix from my flock..... lol and I have several different breeds. I did discover that the majority of the eggs that did hatch at the lower Humidity were the Dark Brown ones from my Cuckoo Marans and Welsummers.... so that is a good thing

I have the same incubator.
I was hoping you could send me the temp and humidity codes for this unit. I was given this as a gift but no owner manual. I have the temp adjusted but am stumped on the humidity. It is factory set at 45% and I need to lower it. Any help would be appreciated.

I plan on using another incubator as a hatcher since this one looks a bit difficult to clean. It sure is cool looking though.

The factory setting for humidity on this unit is to set off an alarm if your incubator goes below 45%. My advice is not to change that particular setting

I always have to fiddle with mine to remember how to adjust the setting. Lol
I just finished another hatch. Incubated in my brinsea tI'll lockdown then moved to this unit for hatching because I have not taken the time to figgure out how to get the humidity high enough in the brinsea and this unit holds hatching humidity wonderfully. I was happy I had 4 turkey eggs and 22 chicken eggs go into lockdown and hatched 3 turkey and 17 chicks. I lost one turkey and one turken the first 24 hrs but that was due to a heating pad issue. So all in all still happy with my investment.

Are you relying on the hygrometer that is part of the unit? If so my recommendation is to get an additional one and calibrate it.... mine on my unit seems to run a little low. I usually have at least 2 additional thermometer /hygrometer's that I put in to keep an eye on things..... I am still using this unit as a hatcher, at the moment it is not doing a great job due to the air conditioner...... sigh I plan to move it to a different room to see if summer hatching is going to be possible.

i cant get it to go up to 65% and what do you have the Humidity sent on to hatch chicken

Mine usually reads 65%ish but the read out on the bator is not accurate. I use another hygrometer that I bought at Walmart to check the humidity. I seem to do pretty well hatching above 60%
