Revisiting my country roots...

Username is from the car not any kind of actual bird. Was raised with chickens, lots and lots of chickens, for both eggs and meat. So when groceries got ridiculous I decided to help myself and got some. *Now* I get to try to remember how mom did it... LOL I'm not doing too bad I guess. I got four, lost one (don't know why), got 8 more, lost one to heat (it's been over 100 several days in a row), and have three more chicks coming up. I've moved the coop and am working on an evaporative fan solution to the heat. Seems to be working. Whenever I have questions or what I remember doesn't make sense I seem to end up here so I figured I might as well join and benefit from the experience of others!

Welcome to BYC!!

Yup. South Texas and I thought after last year, if I was going to lose a chicken it would have *been* last year but nope...
I lost a BCM pullet last year, she was about 22 weeks, it was terrible. We made some alterations this year so I'm hoping for no more losses
