Rhode Island Red?

Production Reds. True Rhode Islands are very rare.

Most chicken breeds are winter hardy.

For the average backyard flock owner, production Reds are interchangeable with Rhode Island Reds. They're a nice red/brown bird who is winter hardy and a good layer.

Just for comparison purposes, here's two Rhode Island Red pullets and a cockerel at about seven months old that I got a few weeks ago. They're easily twice the size of the birds in my layer flock. The hatchery layers are outstanding layers though; couldn't ask for anything better for eggs.
