I was so excited to attend my first fanciers show and I wasn't able to go! How did it go? Are there other shows of any kind scheduled that you know of?

The show was good! Seemed more packed than the spring show was. There was definitely an increase in geese, turkeys, heavy and medium duck entries over the spring.

There's a regional show in Springfield, MA over the MLK weekend, but I don't know of any others.

I really wanted to do some networking. I was speaking with a couple of people at the fair this year and they are the ones who suggested I go. Do you show or were you merely attending?

Merely attending. I know nothing about showing birds. I'd like to maybe show in the future, but I'd need a "getting started" workshop I think.

There are upcoming shows in the Mass. area. N.E. Bantam Club Nov. 20 in Taunton and Boston Poultry Show Nov. 5 & 6. I would like to try to make it to at least one of these. I have never been to one but I am assuming you can roam the area to meet and mingle?

Well, it's definitely open to viewing, but the ri show seems to barely fit in the building it's in, so meet and mingle would be weather dependent.

oooo, don't tempt me! My coop is officially closed. There are so many breeds that I see that I would love to own....what are you buying? I will experience the new chicks through you

When I was planning on going to the poultry show my husband kept reminding me not to buy anything. I reassured him I was not planning on it. Although, I would love to some day own the Ayam Cemani or it's cousin.

Holderreads only has ducks and geese, so I don't know that there's going to be too much interest, but I figured I'd asked. It's about time for me to add new blood to my flock, so I'll only be getting Saxonies. I don't need many, I have plenty of birds, so being able to order with others means I don't have to order 10.

How is everyone's flock doing with these over night temperatures! My water hose froze this morning; I had to get water from the house. I hate this already.
