How is everyone's flock doing with these over night temperatures!  My water hose froze this morning; I had to get water from the house.  I hate this already.

I haven't had frozen water yet but I did cover the run with plastic and lattice. Poor girls looked miserable with all this cold, damp wind

Has anyone posted their coop page here or entered the coop contest? I would love to see what people are doing locally. Solar went up yesterday, and is 1 50w monocrystalline panel hooked up to a charge controller + battery.

The battery has a power inverter that is currently powering a web cam, but will be used for keeping water water in the winter and hopefully could provide heat for ducklings in the spring.

Who here sells eggs? I'm wondering about RI laws and I'm having the same problem I had trying to find this thread. Lots about RIR's egg laying abilities and little about the laws in RI.

We are from Rhode Island but our chickens are just over the CT border.

We've got 8 Silkies, 3 Showgirls, 1 Barred rock, 1 "Easter Egger?", and 8 Red Sex Links.

Been having a lot of fun with our chickens. Very happy to be learning about some other local folks!

Who here sells eggs? I'm wondering about RI laws and I'm having the same problem I had trying to find this thread. Lots about RIR's egg laying abilities and little about the laws in RI.

I haven't sold any eggs currently since mine are just beginning to lay. Although, I do have 3 dozen eggs in my fridge ready to be passed out to family eagerly waiting for fresh eggs. All I can find that R.I. requires is that the grade and size be clearly marked on the cartons. I do not know if this pertains mostly if you are selling to stores? I know around my neighborhood I have bought eggs and they are simply placed in used cartons. We would usually return the carton so it could be refilled. That is what I am doing now with my own. I saved egg cartons and now just filling them up. I think we are one of the states that have no restrictions on the sale of eggs other than what I mentioned. If you find out differently, please post.
