Does anyone have the privilege of owning a Rhodesian Ridgeback?

I don't but my son owns two of them. Both were rehomed to him.

We have a mixed one. He is handsome! Very beautiful to watch run and very loyal.

We have Crazy Lucy, and we think she is a RR and pit bull mix. Her fur along her spine runs the wrong way, you can't really tell it until she is upset over something, and it stands up backwards really good then. Her face is identical to the ones we looked up on the internet. She is a good girl, but was hit by a truck three years ago, and she has been sort of looney every since. If my husband hadn't been so sick at the time, I would have had her put to sleep, but he loved her and she loved him, so she is now our free $500 dog!! Most of us have something like that in our lives . . .

I had a RR, he died of old age some time ago. I am not sure which dog was better my Saint Bernard or the RR. Both dogs were loyal to a fault and the best watch dogs I have ever had.

My friends raise and show them, they are very nice dogs but a bit dumb. They chase horses, and you have to be really careful, cause they'll breed with anything. Otherwise, they are sweet and cuddly!

RR are a nice breed if trained properly. They are large and need early socialization to become obedient safe family pets. Good luck and enjoy.
