Ribh's D'Coopage

Alpia & her sister Wrold.

I always have a soft spot for the underdog ~ in this case Wrold. She comes to me because she knows I'll make sure she gets something to eat but she snatches before the big girls can assert their authority. She's a little insecure but getting better every day.

Oh. My. Goodness!!! *swoon* That is one very handsome rooster!
He's not in my best looking book. I still think Punch is the best looking.
Treacle is a very close second.
Notch is the best rooster with the hens. Strange he was so human and other rooster aggressive. He's about right now. He's not over friendly with me and much less confrontational with the other roosters. He's found his courage again having been beaten up by every other rooster here and can now defend himself. I still keep an eye on Punch and Mag ganging up on him and intervene if necessary.
I can groom Notch in the open now and because he is prone to Scaly Leg Mite, his more mellow attitude means I can do his legs while he's on his perch and that makes life easier.
I like Notch a lot now. I couldn't have said the same a couple of years ago.

Of all the new girls to arrive Alpia has quickly won a place in my heart.
Not only is she pretty, she is sweet natured.

Like all my Wyandottes she is not keen on unsolicited handling but she's not adverse to seeking my company on her own terms with a little questing tilt of her head & a soft asking warble.

Her patterning is really lovely too. She's a real find in a quiet way.

And she doesn't show much fear now she knows I'm the bringer of good things.

Is Alpia well behaved towards the other hens?
I've found in the past some that are tolerant of me are not particularly popular with other hens.

I'm a bit the same with Myth. The fact is by any standard of behaviour she is a horrid hen.
She's very dramatic, she kills her chicks, she causes endless scraps between the roosters because she is basically a bantam and the other bantams know this. She's loud and sly.

Have we seen a picture of Punch? I would like to if you have one.
