Ribh's D'Coopage

Good evening folks :frow

Not all the breeds are available. There’re more choices than there were initially but the first form had an ‘other’ category and I don’t think the second one has. It’s not giving you the option to choose ‘cows’ or ‘legless ducks’ and whilst they’re not legitimate breeds, it does serve as a useful example to show that not all ‘breeds’ are being picked up.
The second form is limited to lists of breeds, the idea being if something isn't there, the administrator can add it so that it is consistently spelled and can be sorted and grouped on.

Jeannie, they are just adorable... I often hear folks out here talking about "noisy" roosters. It makes me laugh... My boys are no match for my girls. Reminds me of the days I would chaperone field trips. 10 minutes on the road with the boys and they were all asleep. The girls on the other hand... Ear defenders were in order.:gig

OH, MY GOSH!!!!
I have been potting up tubestock natives all morning & keeping an eye on my fence hoppers while I was @ it. Aoife has been hopping the fence every 10~20 minutes & we did the circuit. She's been very good about hopping back in.
If only she would stay in!

Last time I went to round her up I couldn't see my trusty fishing rod so I just began walking towards her, fairly confident she would just scoot around the perimeter of the pen as usual. She didn't.
She squatted for me!!!!
She let me pick her up & cart her round to the nesting boxes. No fuss. No bother. No screaming. There weren't even heart thumps. She was totally relaxed.
She's a Campine!!!! Normally I can't get within cooee of any of them!
I am so gobsmacked. So chuffed. 😁
Ok, so not a proof positive she's close to laying but a lovely moment for me just the same. I am so thrilled!

Maybe not proof positive that she is ready to lay but proof positive that you have her trust! And that is worth celebrating. Look at you go!

Great job and congratulations! 🍾🎉

This is what we are being constantly subjected to just now.
At least they're not under my kitchen windows.
Lucky neighbours.

I just love any videos of your flock. 🥰

That was no louder than how Phyllis woke me up this morning. Lordy she was going on. In fact she came over to check it out while I was playing it. 😆

That is interesting. I wonder what that is about?
Mine don't seem to be bothered by the big stick I carry to escort them home from their work location in case a fox gets too interested.
And when I rake up the leaves for them (the rake is a big stick with prongs) they are a real pain because they are always getting in the way!

Aoife looking radiant
Her comb & wattles are reddening up nicely but somehow I think an egg is still a way off.

Suyin & Lavender are looking really good now they have finished their moult. Ha'penny, Hepzibah & Luna are looking tatty but doing it @ a more restrained pace.

They are gorgeous!
I have to say though... they aint got nothin on Goosie!! She sounds like a psycho!! No lie! One of these days I will figure out how to upload a video to YouTube... it is a must hear!!! I actually get embarrassed if I think the neighbors can hear her ... she‘s nuts!

It's not so much the loudness but it is quite a harsh sound & constant! It is what we got before Tuppence & Ha'penny started laying along with the agitation. Ha'penny still does it occasionally when she wants to lay outside of the coop. @Shadrach may have some insights as to what's with that. None of the other girls have behaved quite like that. Medh is starting to do it too.
Phyllis is a smart girl. She knows it means something. :)
