We are hovering around 42F just now but the wind has swung round to the west. All our really horrible weather comes from the west so between that & the cold air directly off the water it is bitter. My girls aren't stirring yet I am trying to encourage the fire to rage instead of sulk.We are just officially starting Summer and are currently in a warm, humid spell. Today's temps are 86/66 F or 30/19 C. My layer flock has been staying inside the cinder block coop to stay cool. They are only coming out at dawn and dusk. Although they did stay out in the rain last night.
I keep hoping one of Stanley's babies look like Patricia! I love the barred spots.![]()
I love brown eggs. They always look so warm & inviting. That's why I find them so attractive.![]()
On the whole I think brown is an underrated colour.I love brown eggs. They always look so warm & inviting. My only complaint with Campine eggs is they're white.

They still try to roost in the trees at that temperature here.We are going down to 6/7C overnight ~ which is really, really cold for us.
I went out to check on my girls & they are @ it again!!!
Thirteen ~ one- three, 13
on the top bar. Patricia is on her own on the Bar of Shame.
She's a big girl ~ for a while I thought I had inadvertently got a rooster~ & though the coop is *fresh* there's no discernible moving air, no feathers ruffling, so she will be all right if a little cooler than she'd like.
Wrold, clever little chickie, has tucked herself under Lavender & Alpia is snuggled between my other 2 Brs, Hepzibah & Soda. I worry more about my Littlies but they have scored the warmest spots!

I know ~ but even the birds are wooses out here. They still try to roost in the trees at that temperature here.
It's got to be well below freezing before they show a preference for the coop as long as it's dry.
Still looks lovely, cold or not.
That is hysterical. Silly boy. This silly kitty lays like doggie........ all stretched out...View attachment 2208756View attachment 2208757
