That’s ironic!

There is a family story that my great, great, great... (maybe seven greats?) was “an indian chief.” (Yes, I know the proper term is Native American, but it’s an old. A couple tribes did visit the island and surrounding area, and Rosalie herself looks a bit native to me in photos. My sister had a DNA test and guess how much native american blood we have? Drumroll please... none! Zilch. Nada. It’s just an old tale.
Families are like that. ;) My Aunt always swore black & blue that we could trace our ancestry back to Kenneth MacAlpine, last of the Pictish, 1st of the Scottish kings. There is so much wrong with that statement I have always put it down to her wide romantic streak without substantial evidence of any sort. :lau

What an amazing story!!

My grandmother always said that we were related royalty in South Whales. She said we did something to piss people off and were kicked off the island.

My daughter, Anna, is named for one of the sisters that was kicked off . Her name was Anna Jones and she was born is Swansea South Whales.
Everyone is related to royalty in the Celtic kingdoms. :lau It's how the clan system worked.

I have been to Swansea. :) We spent quite a lot of time in Wales ~ partially because it was drier & warmer than England was @ the time :gig& partially because I was dragging the man around every supposed Arthurian site I could find. :lauI spent my 21st birthday @ Tintagal, where Merlin supposedly duped Gorlois & Arthur was conceived. I'm a sucker for a good story.

Good morning folks :frow

I'm am suspect of the DNA tests. I have a similar situation, no native american. Yet I know, through research and documentation, that My Grandmother's Grandmother was 100% Cherokee. Her family escaped the trail of tears and was taken in by a white family, that basically taught them to be white. Because they took that families surname it get's really murky, but I was able to follow them to Illinois and then to Terre Haute Indiana where she was married and had my grandmother's mom. What I haven't been able to find was her death certificate. I think I actually did once but passed because it was tied to the reservation. Family stories said she died in Indiana, but her youngest daughter said she moved to the reservation when they started issuing Social Security Cards.

I did Dee Brown's Bury My Heart @ Wounded Knee as part of my American Literature studies [He quotes a lot of the Indian Leaders & Shamans] so studied The Trail of Tears. Heartbreaking. But a wonderful tie to history! I was the only person in my class to choose that strand but I read some wonderfully beautiful & poetic things because of it!

I'm am suspect of the DNA tests. Me too. Britain has been using them to trace the movement of peoples within Britain over the centuries. It is dodgy science @ best. Most of what they use to date sites & artefacts is too. There is plenty of hard evidence of the movement of peoples & I don't discount the early stories either. Plenty of evidence if you discount the hyperbole.

Good evening folks :frow

Yup Sue and I hit 40 in February.... In good news, Sue was moved from ICU yesterday to a step down room and I have to call the hospital today to find out where she is as she's been moved to general population sometime during the night. She's totally tube free. And she's stills scheduled to move to rehab tomorrow. I was disappointed to discover that PT/OT doesn't work the weekends.
Glad to hear Sue is moving in the right direction..... and we’ll hit 30 years in February ;) 🥰

Both Alpia & Wrold were checking out the nesting boxes this morning.
As their combs & wattles have been bright red for some time I'm hopeful ~ though Alpia was tossing bits of mulch over her shoulder.
Worrying. All my broodies do this... :(
