Ribh's D'Coopage

I feel like after all of the book talk I owe everyone something on chickens. Not much happening at Fluffy Butt Acres right now, just lots of feathers strewn about.

So how about Lilly nest building in the vines. Not for herself, but for Sansa to use!

Very thoughtful of her!

Oh I like sci-fi as well. But something of the charm was gone. Somehow she wound up making the world less interesting by turning it into sci-fi. I can't explain it but somehow I would up disappointed.
I agree. It lost something of the whimsey & allure & became far duller & more prosaic. I preferred her dragons to her machines.

That is amazing! I can see why.
The oldest European Neolithic site discovered ~ & mostly intact. If you are interested all the day to day stuff is still in place: the beds, the fireplaces, the griddle stones, stone dressers & storage bins ~ even a sort of fridge ~ a clay lined box that would have held water & could have kept seafood alive. Anything perishable has gone of course but they used a lot of imperishables & it is fascinating. We really haven't changed that much down the centuries.

:frow Good morning Jeannie, have a great day

Me too. History is far more interesting & complex than the schools ever make it.
We've lived some of the history that doesn't even resemble what we saw or remember. There is soooooo very much to understand before assessing what you saw in history. Way too many people view history through their current day lenses. Most kids today would ask why Paul revere didn't use his cell phone :gig The same kids would never understand the concept of telling your neighbor to get off the phone so you can make a call. Did AUS ever have party lines?

Don't know anything about party lines. I've always seen any type of phone as a work of the devil. Anyone we want to speak to rings our mobile. The telemarketers & scammers ring the landline despite us being on the *Do Not Call* register.

My calls increased exponentially once I signed up for "Do not call" :gig Back in the 60's one of your options for a cheaper land line was called a party line. In the days where everything went on twisted pair. They could program the system to ring your phone when someone dialed your number but two houses would share the same pair. So if someone called you and your neighbor was on the phone they would get a busy signal. On the same token, if your neighbor was on the phone when you wanted to make a call you would have to wait until they were off. AND the added bonus was you could listen in on your neighbor's calls and vice versa.

I think you have to renew your do not call status every now and then. Also why would a caller from some other country respect our do not call legislation? When they put that legislation in place international calls were too expensive to justify the efforts of telemarketers from other countries, but now it's super cheap so of course if there's a number, they call it.

My mobile has a setting so it only rings for numbers in the contacts list. Anyone else has to leave a message.
