Ribh's D'Coopage

What has annoyed me most about the whole covid affair is how inconsistent the guidelines have been. For example there are signs up all over our ferries telling us to keep our 1 meter distance from each other then they pack us on the boats like sardines. I think we've been had & royally screwed over. :idunno
This is my opinion too!

I know almost nothing of modern African history ~ any of it's history is sketchy @ best~ but I'm not a fan of anyone carrying guilt for the sins of the past for one simple fact: all races, all nations, all peoples, @ some point in their history, have committed atrocities against those who are *other*. The fact is ALL peoples can be the pits. Black Africans traded in white slaves for centuries before America was settled by whites. The middle eastern world is still rife with slavery. The Irish were indentured slaves. The Japanese boiled people in oil or flayed them alive. The Persians & Assyrians, the Mongols, the Goths, the Sythians, Russkis & Saxons all had reputations for ferocity & barbarity that is hard to imagine. It is how we, as individuals, choose to act that determines our guilt ~ or lack thereof.
Very well stated Jehane!!! I agree with you 100%!

The Girls organising themselves for bed last night:
Beatha.
She's usually last to roost.
She has the weirdest beard & muffs & a top knot that never really happened. 🙄
She's the only hen I've ever seen with pale blue eyes...

Howdy, Ribh! :frow That lavender bird is so cute. I haven't seen a frizzled type look quite that plush and pretty. Beatha reminds me of a yeti with that bearded face/head! All of your birds are beauties!

Yikes. I thought I researched everything about coop design before building the Chicken Palace but now you have me worried.
The big roost is about 2' off the ground at the up-hill end and the floor drops away so it is about 4' off the ground at the down-hill end. They use the ladders to come down (and mostly to go up as well) except for the Little Princesses who tend to fly everywhere (I think just because they can).
They have about 5' horizontal space if they go straight off the high end or 14' if they go off the low end - but none of the grown ladies has ever shown the slightest inclination to jump down. It is almost like it is too high even to try it.
I wonder if I should try to lower it. Kind of a big job. Ugh.
This is how I set up my roosts...I didn't want to have them too high! When we had our Banty's I had the roost up where the ceiling starts to slope, but I knew these girls would be too heavy for that and I didn't want anyone to get hurt!
