Ribh's D'Coopage

Ok ~ we have worming tablets to do all the girls.
Then the vet is going to give me something to treat the whole flock for coccidiosis. A very mild infection was present in the feacal sample so it sounds like Gonril was pretty unlucky. And none of the symptoms, like bloody poop, were present so I wasn't particularly thinking that way. I had considered it & checked for symptoms ~ but let's face it, I'm not the best with sickness & disease. I got to show of piccies of all my pretty girls & had the satisfaction of the vet ooohing & aaahing. :D Yep. She was quite taken with them too.

Let us know what your vet gives you for coccidia and worms.
I don't want to do your vet an injustice but if you go to some of the vets here you'll get given stuff that won't do the job.
Wormers that work are very few and far between. The chemicals that will treat coccidosis are quite limited as well. Just saying.....

Yes it is! I'm sorry I missed the Cocci but I know I checked for it. I even dosed everyone with Amprolium right @ the beginning just in case but it was so wet I guess the dosage diluted too much, or perhaps Gonril was just too sick to start with. Mind you, it was her lameness that was causing me the greatest concern @ the time. I should have stuck with my gut instinct but she wasn't showing any of the symptoms listed until the last morning. :idunno
Dose each hen individually with Amprolium Ribh. It's not difficult and you then know each hen has received the right dose.
I get a syringe, suck the correct dose out of the containor and squirt it into somehting small; an eggcup might be something you'll have on hand.
Get some small pieces of bread, 3mm cut squares is what I use and drop the bread into the eggcup and soak up the Amprolium and feed the bread to the hen. You can do multiple doses, say five a time if you like.

Thanks, Shad. I tend to follow the instructions literally even when that's not the best way because I don't know better. I have far more experience with cats & know what to do with my tablet spitters & bluffers. BTW, Wrold was bluffing. 🙄 As soon as she got in the pen she was bokking & fluffing & heading for a nest. I put her in the run on her own but had to fish her out of a nest to roost. She will have to wait until after Christmas now. Too many people in my house to have a hen in my bathroom.

It had better work. It cost a fortune! I can't read the ingredients on the foil. I'll see if that's better with more light later on.

Fat Bird and Cilin. Both will try to sit as close to me as possible when I'm stting here on the computer. Mel tends to sit on my right partially under what is optamistically described as a coffee table.

I just got back from my neighbors home. Her furnace wasn't working, was the gas supply valve. and I fixed it. (Too cold out for a lady of 80yrs to not have heat) Seems later today, I get an apple pie in the deal! Yumm!:drool She has chickens too!
You are a really kind neighbor! You deserve an apple pie! :thumbsup
