Ribh's D'Coopage

They are simply gorgeous! I think they are getting used to me.
I doubt you remember Ribh but I went through a phase with my two little babies where they hated me and I was very distressed about that.
Everyone here recommended bribery. So I introduced them to live meal worms but only from my hand. It took very little time for them to learn I was a good thing even if I didn’t bring treats. Only live worms worked.
Minnie took to jumping on my shoulder. It really worked and I was so happy.
Now I would say they are still more skittish than, say Maggie, who just seems to like people (not me specifically). But I can definitely pick them up if I need to which was my main goal.
Unlike Diana and Elizabeth who squat for me and clearly see me as a very tall rooster the two road runners don’t squat for me even now they are laying. So I don’t know what they think I am. But that is OK. A lot of what they think is a mystery to me! :lau
Long story short I recommend live worms to ingratiate yourself!

Yes. My usual tack is to spend quite a lot of time just sitting quietly with any new birds & getting them used to my voice & movements then introducing treats but we are having a really wet summer so we are moving a little slowly.

Shame about the wet.
