Yeah, I should have realized that...maybe you should get day old chicks when you get your new littles! :)
Even day old chicks can be tricky if you want absolutely no roosters, because mistakes are made. But, yeah, the odds are better.
Would a hen adopt day old chIckes?
 
I'm struggling with Cillins foot pad.:oops:
I got it right yesterday and the white core center was showing this morning. The day before I got it wrong again and the core scabbed over.:barnie
I can see that the idea will work, but placement and security of the pad is crucial.
I'm working on it. I had a look this evening and it looks like I got it right this morning.
Probably 3 days in a row will do it. Stay positive.

Some will, some won't. When I was a lad I had a hen that raised at least 100 chicks that were not her own. You have to watch though. Sometimes they will reject them. I have no idea on what the rejection % might be.
