Ribh's D'Coopage

Thanks, Bob. I don't think they are even close to 18 weeks yet. Closer to 12 I think. Sounds like I'll have to wait a bit longer. I am running both lots together during the days now without incident so that part is sorted & not a worry. And I have plenty of roosting space. Size difference is perhaps my biggest concern as the littlest are still peeping, so basically still babies.
I think I would keep them separate a little while longer yet. You got some tiny ones and you are not having any behavioral or crowing issues are you? If not, I recommend letting them get to 18 weeks before pushing them together.

I don't have a human scale either. On purpose :gig

Sometimes the gp weighs me if she considers it necessary but usually she chooses to discuss diet and exercise, and give me pamphlets. She's very helpful and supportive.
I get it now. 😉 I will point out the household scale is really just used for weighing chickens. 😆

Same here. The man has a small scale for weighing his parcels but I'm not game to ask for a chicken loan.

I think you're right. I have more little ones on order but nowhere to put them until I move this lot out. Ah well. Everything in good order! I am not having any crowing or behavioural issues @ all. Everything has gone remarkably smoothly. They aren't mixing much but that doesn't bother me. So long as they aren't drawing blood on each other I am more than happy.

Good evening folks :frow

Jeannie I would keep them on the grower/starter until they lay. The grower/starter won't hurt the big girls. If need be, you can switch everyone to the grower/starter, just be sure to serve up plenty of calcium on the side so the bigs can manage what they need.
That is what I did when I integrated the little road-runners. I switched everyone to their starter/grower and the big Princesses seemed fine with it and I offered them calcium in the form of oyster shell and eggshells on the side.

Thanks, RC.
