Ribh's D'Coopage

It has been a crazy two days for me and I find myself celebrating a new Caturday.

The story

Eve's mother decided that Eve was so good with Davis on the last visit that she wanted to get her a cat. She wanted to get a bigger cat like Davis and so she found a 6 month old Maine Coon mix up for private adoption. She went to see it and fell in love with it.

Then the trouble arrived.

Her husband said no. No matter how many times Eve said "kitty please".

So my daughter called me and asked me to adopt it.

Mrs BY Bob said why not. It's soooo cute. So we piled into the car and off we went.

Everyone say Hello to Éowyn.

Her tail is huge.

So she will be joining Davis and Isabel this evening after a 4.5 hour drive home. Wish us luck on integration.
Hi Éowyn! Looking forward to reading about the integration.

So far Davis is not pleased, Éowyn is unconcerned. Lots of staring and the occasional hiss. Not a friendly reception so far on Davis' part. 😕
You know you have to introduce cats like you do chickens. SLOWLY. Locked room for the newcomer - feed by the door - they get used to sniffing each other under the door when they eat. Then supervised. Just because @CrazyChookChookLady can take any animal and plop it right in the middle of her family and they all love each other immediately, that is not normal!
Two of my cats still don't speak to each other and they have been together nearly 10 years, but way back a decade ago, one of them was a newcomer and usurper of affection and has never been forgiven.

Frankly I should have known better. This is good advice but it arrived too late. Where were you yesterday? :barnie

I have always just combined cats with great success. But I now realize I either had my orange tabby, Dr Zoidberg, or the dog to supervise things. Dr. Z. ran this house and organized all cat things. I watched him take a terrified Bubbie and talk him out from behind the toilet and escort him around the house. Showed him where the food was, the litter box, the whole house, talking to him in a chipped meow of some kind. It was amazing.

On the plus side, Éowyn and Isabel are getting along just fine. So there is that.

Sorry! I think if you as the teacher so I just assumed you would know. I do have about 50 years of multi-cat household experience so I should have shared.
Hope they work it out. Still worth separation until they calm down.
Scent exchange is important. In their separate kingdoms swap blankets so each of them gets used to the smell of the other one in a totally safe place.

I will see what I can work up. These 2 are doing good.

I laugh because my lot do not all love each other. They do however respect each other.

You are very kind to call me the teacher. Thank you.

I really do feel like a fool. Why wouldn't it be like integrating a chicken? 🤦‍♂️

Making friends

Isabel is the one I was worried about. She dislikes Davis big time. This is going very well. Go figure.
