Ribh's D'Coopage

We’ll have to have a meet-n-greet in Sydney when Covid isn’t a thing anymore.

I missed the Barnevelder:

 do all Australian Barnevelders not have yellow legs?? Maybe Janet is not such an outlier after all?

This one at Hawkesbury has gorgeous deep colours!

It didn’t say she was a Barnevelder, but a “backyard chicken”. It was the pencilling on her feathers that caught my eye.

Oh I see! I agree, her colouring and pattern definitely indicate Barnevelder. But perhaps the yellow legs are the first feature to be lost when crossing with other breeds. Makes me wonder about the other breed features. I don't suppose you saw one of her eggs by any chance?

No, she hadn’t laid an egg. Some of the hens had an egg in the cage that must have just popped out.

So I’m going to post this on Ribh’s thread (I hope she doesn’t mind!), simply because @Aussie-Chookmum has some catching up to do on @BY Bob ‘s thread.

So I took my son to the Hawkesbury Show today, and the weather was just perfect! He went on his very first roller-coaster and had a pretty good time. We also saw lots of chooks, cats and a sheep being shorn. I’ll post some pics as I saw Vorwerks, a prize-winning Australorp and a hen that looked she had Barnevelder in her. There were even Frizzled Polishes!

It was also great that I got to meet Aussie-Chookmum IRL! I got a bit of video of her felting; I’ll upload it when I get it off my camera.

I just noticed the *white* Australorp! I've never seen a white one before, I didn't know it was possible!

That is great. Isn't it fun to meet another BYC'er! So cool. And a frizzled polish! I've never seen one of those before.
